Meatable is a fast-growing biotechnology company and we are looking for our next colleague with a collaborative, adaptive, and creative mindset. At Meatable you get the opportunity to experience the fast moving scale-up environment where everyone is working towards the same shared goal. We can promise a vibrant atmosphere, surrounded by people that care about each other, with no day being the same.
About the Role
The Meatable approach for creating ‘cell-based’ meat is based on ground-breaking proprietary technology that was developed at The University of Cambridge and allows us to turn induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) into muscle and fat cells, creating 100% real, delicious, guilt free meat. We use iPSCs because they have amazing benefits that enable affordable, at scale production (e.g. they are pluripotent, grow completely serum free, have unlimited proliferation capacity and can grow in suspension). With our technology, scalable cell-based meat production is becoming a reality. Furthermore, our company culture encourages everybody on the team to actively shape their position and we provide ample opportunities for personal and professional growth.
During your internship you will work in the Fat Differentiation team which is part of the Research and Development department to support the culture of fat tissue – an essential part of our final product!
You will be responsible to maintain cell lines used to create our fat cells and perform cell-based assays under close supervision of scientists and other technicians of the team. Furthermore, your responsibilities will include daily maintenance of both 2D and 3D cell cultures and conducting routine techniques such as PCR or immunofluorescence assays.
