About the role

Production of cultured meat is a cutting-edge biotechnological process combining challenges from mammalian cell culture and the food industry, as well as creating a few complications of its own. As Biomaterial Scientist you will be challenged to design safe, sustainable, and cheap media which provides a comfortable environment for our mammalian iPSC to proliferate and differentiate into muscle and fat.

Your goal will be to find, develop and evaluate new ingredients which can be used in these processes. The ingredients team is involved in almost every aspect of the company, so you will closely work with our scientific experts in the field of bioprocessing, molecular cell biology, and even food science and engineering to bring innovation.

This is a lab oriented scientific position requiring full scope of literature search, effective experimentation, thorough analysis, and comprehensive presentation of results with minimal supervision. Hence, thinking critically, being creative, and being able to multi-task are essential characteristics for being successful in this role.    

As Biomaterial Scientist Media, you will work in the Ingredients Team which is part of the Research and Development  Department.

Qualifications

  • PhD + 3 years of experience or a postdoc
  • Fundamental knowledge of organic, bio- and polymer chemistry, colloidal science, and other related fields
  • Knowledge of cell biology and cell signalling. Understanding of physical and chemical in cell differentiation and behaviour
  • Experience in the development of complex biomaterials such as tissue scaffolds, drug delivery systems etc.
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture. iPSC or ESC culture is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of standard chemical and cell-based analytical techniques, including HPLC-MS, SEC, NMR, FTIR, FACS, qPCR and Western blot
