CURRENTLY WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Biomaterial Scientist Media

DELFT, THE NETHERLANDS

Production of cultured meat is a cutting-edge biotechnological process combining challenges from mammalian cell culture and the food industry, as well as creating a few complications of its own. As Biomaterial Scientist you will be challenged to design safe, sustainable, and cheap media which provides a comfortable environment for our mammalian iPSC to proliferate and differentiate into muscle and fat. Your goal will be to find, develop and evaluate new ingredients which can be used in these processes. The ingredients team is involved in almost every aspect of the company, so you will closely work with our scientific experts in the field of bioprocessing, molecular cell biology, and even food science and engineering to bring innovation. This is a lab oriented scientific position requiring full scope of literature search, effective experimentation, thorough analysis, and comprehensive presentation of results with minimal supervision. Hence, thinking critically, being creative, and being able to multi-task are essential characteristics for being successful in this role.     As Biomaterial Scientist Media, you will work in the Ingredients Team which is part of the Research and Development  Department.

Manager Analytics

DELFT, THE NETHERLANDS

Our research and development team is growing fast, and their analytical needs are getting too substantial to keep handling these in the current team structure. As we are preparing for launch and the corresponding food safety and quality checks, we are looking for a highly talented manager to build this cross-functional analytical team and grow it as our business evolves. Meatable is in the middle of two worlds; while our day to day work is mostly focused on cellular biology (and thus most of our immediate analytical needs are in e.g. mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays, and expertise in flow cytometry, qPCR, microscopy and imaging analysis), we are effectively in the innovative food business, and thus require assays, quality checks and traceability that are required to get our products approved. Therefore, we are looking for somebody who understands both worlds we are active in. For example a candidate with an educational background and a couple of years research experience in a (cellular) biological or biomedical subject to really understand our researchers and for hands-on experience with their analytical methods, who shifted careers to the food business in an analytical manager role, so that he/she also understands the requirements to get a food product approved. Our preferred candidate is currently/has been a lead or manager of an analytical team. Somebody who understands the types of analytics we need now and in the future, and is able to build this team – the people, protocols, methods. We are looking for somebody who brings extensive knowledge from earlier analytical (or even certified) lab experience, but is flexible enough to translate this knowledge into specific needs that fit with the phase Meatable is currently in, and will be in in the future.

iPSC Scientist

DELFT, THE NETHERLANDS

As our iPSC Scientist you will lead the generation, characterization and banking of iPSC lines using state of the art techniques. As a key member of our Cell Line Development team, you will be responsible for the generation and characterization of iPSC lines from different species (porcine, bovine and more!). You will help the team to establish a workflow for the derivation of iPSC and you will be responsible for the standardization and implementation of relevant SOPs for the establishment of Research and Development Cell Banks according to GLP/GMP criteria. We are looking for an enthusiastic person, that has experience working with different cell lines derived from different pluripotent states (naive to primed). He or she understands the pluripotency network (for example, has worked with both human and mouse pluripotent cell lines) and the signalling associated with it, and has developed/optimized media formulations (naive versus primed). Our cell lines are the core of Meatable’s R&D and therefore you will be part of an exciting multidisciplinary team to whom you will provide continuous scientific support. You will have the chance to work directly with every other team, from bioreactors and upscaling to tissue engineering and media formulation.

Meatable is currently in the R&D phase and we are developing our production process. To ensure a seamless transition towards small-scale – and at a later stage - large scale production we want to get an expert onboard who will work in the R&D team to i) end-to-end design and develop our small-scale meat production facility ii) ensure all processes developed in R&D phase can scale to industry scale, iii) make cost estimations and ensure a cost effective large-scale facility, iv) ensure our facility complies with relevant regulations and protocols and v) operate small scale unit.
