Process Engineer

About the Role The best way to predict the future is to create it    As Process Engineer you are responsible for creating a mass and energy balance model of our first Cultured Meat plants. You will work in the Engineering team which is part of the Process Development Department to advance and scale up our Meat production process.     Together with the team, you will be challenged to design both a pilot and a full-scale cultured meat plant. Your work will be used to steer the Process Development Roadmap and facilitate the decision making. A significant part of your role will be building a model in SuperPro Designer. In addition, you will closely work with our scientific experts in the field of bioprocessing, molecular cell biology, biochemistry, food science, and engineering to bring innovation to your progress. Together with an interdisciplinary team, you will be challenged to contribute to experimental design, to generate relevant input data for the model. In order to be successful in this role, you need to a curious mindset, determination and a sense of humor to cope with unexpected changes and work in a dynamic environment. Lab Assistent met technische affiniteit

Ons onderzoeksteam groeit snel en er is behoefte aan een ondersteunende Lab Assistent/Technicus. Wij zijn op zoek naar een Lab Assistent met technische affiniteit: je gaat onderdeel uitmaken van ons operationele team en gaat nauw samenwerken met onze Technicians en Scientist. We zijn op zoek naar een echte generalist die een pragmatische en flexibele instelling heeft. Je houdt van structuur aanbrengen en vindt het niet erg om de handen uit de mouwen te steken; je werkzaamheden zijn heel divers hierbij kun je denken aan het installeren van een koelkast of verplaatsen van een incubator. Plannen gaat je gemakkelijk af en je hebt geen moeite met het benaderen (bellen, mailen, face to face)/ contact leggen met leveranciers, klanten etc. Hiervoor zoeken wij een nauwkeurig persoon die het liefst al enkele jaren laboratoriumervaring heeft en een technische achtergrond heeft of een sterke affectie hiermee (denk hierbij aan repareren van oude motoren, werken aan elektronica etc.). Wat ga je o.a doen: • Zorg dragen voor onze apparatuur (Bestellen, installeren, onderhoud en kalibratie) • Het bestellen en onderhouden van de voorraad voor de laboratoria (plastics, media etc.) • Ondersteuning bieden aan het laboratoriumpersoneel; bufferpreparatie, Afvalbeheer etc

Lead Buyer

To strengthen our team we are looking for a Lead Buyer In this new role you will apply knowledge of procurement practices and procedures to organize and coordinate procurement activities of materials, goods, services and supplies; You will identify business procurement needs, search, screen and qualify vendors, evaluate vendor portfolios, and with help of in house technical specialist, select and negotiate the most favorable solution and terms for the business. You track purchases, monitor vendor quality, and maintain a current database of vendor information for uninterrupted supply of equipment, goods and services for the business. In addition, the Lead Buyer typically reports to the Laboratory Manager and you supervise the work of a junior buyer and/or inventory management staff. You are the specialist on complex sourcing and business matters and can work independently. Responsibilities: • Identify procurement needs of products and services for business functions • Provide comprehensive understanding of suppliers, key market players and market dynamics • Collect offers (RFP / RFQ / RFI), negotiate pricing and delivery conditions with vendors • Maintain vendor relationships and implement contracting and SLA agreements • Develop and follow established procedures to select suppliers and place actual order for materials, supplies and services into assigned systems. (ERP, Vendor sites, etc) • Verify inbound materials for completeness (OTIF-On Time In Full) or damage and connect with vendors for corrective action as needed • Check records accuracy and perform data analysis for process and supply chain optimization • Handle complex clerical, administrative, technical or supplier issues under minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to the direct manager • Manage and prioritize procurement projects in a changing and dynamic environment • Assist direct manager with buying process improvements and provide inputs for procurement strategy development and execution In order to be successful in this role you need to be a proactive communicator, FLUENT IN DUTCH, have a hands on mentality with attention to details. Scientist Bovine Stem Cells

To help grow our portfolio of mammalian cell lines we are looking for a Scientist with proven experience with cultivation and genetic engineering of bovine cells and in particular bovine pluripotent stem cells. As a Scientist with experience working with bovine cells you will be a key member of our Cell Line Development team, where you will be working within our iPSC Derivation team to develop new bovine pluripotent stem cell lines. You will be directly involved in the establishment and characterization of bovine iPSC cell lines that will be used in research and in product development. The ideal candidate has experience with the generation of iPSC cell lines of bovine origin and/or derivation of bovine embryonic stem cell lines and understands the molecular mechanisms of reprogramming and pluripotency. He or she has ample experience with molecular and cell biology techniques, preferably including CRISPR/Cas and/or other gene editing techniques.

Quality Officer

The Meatable approach for creating ‘cell-based’ meat is based on ground-breaking proprietary technology that was developed at The University of Cambridge and allows us to turn induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) into muscle and fat cells, creating 100% real, delicious, guilt free meat. We use iPSCs because they have amazing benefits that enable affordable, at scale production (e.g. they are pluripotent, grow completely serum free, have unlimited proliferation capacity and can grow in suspension). With our technology, scalable cell-based meat production is becoming a reality. We are a young and fast-growing company and are entering our next wave of growth. As our new Quality Officer your main responsibilities will be: • Support on implementation of the Quality and Food Safety Management System at Meatable’s organization (including its R&D organization, research laboratories and the pilot plant) • Directly involved in building materials related to Quality and Food Safety Management System (e.g., development of operational procedures and document templates, supporting on the deployment of related QMS IT software). Demonstrating experience to build such material is a plus. • Keeping the Quality and Food Safety Management System up to date, effective and efficient. • Participating in several projects to ensure Quality and Food Safety requirements are implemented on agreed timelines. • Being active member of HACCP team. • Supervising and conducting internal audits, quality and hygiene inspections. Cell Culture Technician

As our new Cell culture Technician, you will work in the Ingredients Team which is part of the Research and Development Department to support the development of cheap and efficient cell culture media suitable for the production of cultured meat. You will be challenged to maintain cell lines and perform cell-based assays under close supervision of scientists and other technicians of the team. Furthermore, your responsibilities are to support research by conducting routine experiments and prepare media and solutions based on set formulations. We are looking for a proactive communicator with a hands-on mentality and attention to details. You are flexible, eager and able to learn and change.

Technician Cell Culture Medium

Cultured meat development involves preparation of many unique cell culturing media. As Technician Cell Culture Medium you will support the research team by producing various cell culture media and optimizing the production protocols for upscaling. Your goal will be to maintain the stocks of media components, produce media in the sterile conditions and effectively communicate with the research team to ensure that their needs are met. We are looking for someone with experience in industrial cell culture or cell culture media production, who are willing to apply this knowledge in a dynamic research-oriented environment. Bioprocess Technician

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and talented Bioprocess Technician to join our Bioprocessing team. As a Bioprocess Technician you work with a multifunctional team performing experiments into different aspects of cultured meat and production of (muscle) cells for further regulatory and scientific advancement. You will work with suspension culture, with a large focus on bioreactors. In the role of Bioprocess technician, you will focus on performing experiments in the lab R&D facility but also be involved in the transfer to the large scale R&D facility. You will actively be involved with other teams in cross functional projects. We are a young and fast-growing company and are entering our next wave of growth. Given our size, new team members will be a huge part of our motivated multidisciplinary team. In order to be successful in this role you need to be able to work independently, but also communicate effectively with different teams to reach a common goal. You need to have a good practical and scientific background, but also get enthusiastic about thinking outside-the-box to find a solution. As the Technician Process Development you are responsible for performing the laboratory scale Meat production process. You will work in the Production Support Team which is part of the Process Development Department to advance and scale up our Meat production process. Together with the team, you will be challenged to produce sufficient amounts of high quality muscle tissue and fat cells with our state-of-the art technology. This cultured meat will be used in our first prototype end-products. Together with our multidisciplinary team of scientists and technicians you will plan and execute the production processes and make sure it meets the criteria and improves where possible. You will also be involved with experimental studies in the lab, and writing SOP and WI documentation. A significant part of your role will be hands-on work in our R&D facility. You will operate the different type of reactors and perform the necessary sampling and testing for the reactor runs. Last but not least you will help in documenting the process in SOP’s.
