Manager Innovation and Business Development

At Meatable we are looking for a Manager Innovation and Business Development who can help us stay on top of everything that is happening in the world around us. Someone who can ensure that we are always the first to know about any relevant studies/experts/companies that might help us improve our techniques. Someone who can help filter the input from various organizations we see coming to us. And someone who can build relationships with these parties, as well as negotiate, and ensure that the cooperation is beneficial for all parties. Alongside evaluating and managing potential innovations which could be beneficial to Meatable, the Manager Business Development will work closely with our R&D teams to identify where in our processes external collaborations could help us solve important problems. Therefore, we are looking for someone with a solid Life Science background and experience, so that this person is able to understand all of the facets of our work (cell biology, media development, bioprocess engineering, tissue engineering and an ability to understand food science), who can bring to us experience from a scientific affairs & innovation role, preferably combined with a thorough understanding of patenting and licensing. This person will work very closely together with Daan Luining, our founder and CTO and the driver of Meatable’s methodologies. Together they will form our Technology Intelligence team (which can be expanded in the future) and ensure that Meatable is always on-top-of any innovation that is relevant for us. Your key responsibilities will include: - Create overview of any specific input our researchers need help with now or in the future, and define potential parties who can be of help with these questions - Constantly scan our direct and indirect environment (universities, associations, start-ups in related fields, publications, etc) for any novelty techniques that might be(come) interesting for us - Filter input/requests we receive from a variety of companies/institutions that want to cooperate with us - Prioritize potentially interesting parties, discuss with the senior stakeholders, and engage in partnership conversations and negotiations with the most important players - Review and monitor R&D results to identify opportunities to protect and commercialise our IP - Structure all discussions around patenting, licensing, IP and ensure that Meatable remains in control of its own technology Who are you: - A self-starter, independent, hands-on, not afraid to reach out to new people or to work/interact with senior people from large organizations - Structured and conscientious - A good networker, easily able to build relationships, but at the same time a strong negotiator who is able to negotiate with smaller as well as larger parties - Ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders within Meatable: scientists, commercial teams and Management

Technician Bioprocess

DELFT, THE NETHERLANDS

As our new Technician Bioprocess you are responsible for performing the lab scale upstream (USP) production process. You will work with a seed train and bioreactor process to produce the cells required for product development. Together with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and technicians you will plan and execute the production processes and take care it meets the criteria and will be improved where possible. You will also be involved with experimental studies on the lab, and writing SOP and WI documentation. A significant part of the role will be hands-on work in our R&D facility. You will operate bioreactors and shaker flasks and perform the necessary sampling and testing for the bioreactor runs. You will assist with drafting or completing in the process related documentation. In order to be successful in this role you need to have a hands on mentality with attention to detail. You need to be flexible to changing priorities in a dynamic and fast-growing organization. You are a real team player, but you also take responsibility for your individual tasks.

Fat Cultivation Technician

As our Fat Cultivation Technician, you will support our team in the development of safe and sustainable cell-based fat, using state of the art techniques. As a key member of our Fat Development team, you will assist in the generation and characterization of adipocytes from different species (porcine, bovine and more!) according to GLP/GMP criteria. You are an enthusiastic person and work hard to achieve your part of the company goals. You have good interpersonal communication skills, and you are able to effectively communicate your results to colleagues with a different expertise background. You are result oriented, and you are able to deal with unexpected changes and work in a dynamic environment. You will support our scientific experts within cross functional collaborative projects that transitions from research into product development. Responsibilities: - Collaboration with fellow researchers to plan experiments and establish action points. - Perform experiments and analyse data. - Present data at group meetings. - Contribute to lab management activities.

QA Manager

DELFT, THE NETHERLANDS

Meatable is in the middle of two worlds; while our day to day work is mostly focused on cellular biology (and thus most of our immediate analytical needs are in e.g. mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays, and expertise in flow cytometry, qPCR, microscopy and imaging analysis), we are effectively in the innovative food business, and thus require assays, quality checks and traceability that are required to get our products approved. That is why we look for our new QA manager who can: - Drive implementation of the Quality Management System, in alignment with the Food Safety Management System, at Meatable’s organization (including its R&D organization, research laboratories and the pilot plant) - Responsible for keeping the quality system up to date, effective and efficient - Ensure quality system deployment across the whole Meatable organization, including transferring professional knowledge and providing trainings - Work closely with the internal stakeholders (e.g.,R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Operations and other) and participate in several projects to ensure Quality Management requirements are implemented based on agreed timelines. - Ensure required actions are taken in terms of food-GMP compliance to get relevant certifications. - Conduct internal audits and participate in t relevant external audits on Quality Management as required. If applicable, ensure related corrective and preventive actions are taken on time. - Be the point of contact for external parties such as customers, suppliers, laboratories and certification bodies (in relation to the quality assurance) - Support the teams in troubleshooting and resolving issues that may impact product safety or quality - Manage the suppliers quality assurance and control of incoming goods and finished products, in accordance with Meatable requirements and regulatory requirements. - Be a core member of the HACCP team. Ensure the HACCP program is implemented by the HACCP team, and is up to date and adhered to, CCPs are met and prescribed corrective action is taken in the event of any deviations from set critical limits - Keep track of legal or market changes that can affect the quality compliance - Ensure continuous improvement of Quality system, propose and implement new quality control methods - Prepare regular update reports to summarize company Quality KPIs for management review - Report to the Company CEO.

Molecular and Cell Biology Scientist

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and talented Molecular and Cell Biology Scientist to join our Genetic Engineering and Cell Line Development team. You are expected to independently conduct research projects involving setting up novel approaches for the generation of different mammalian cell lines using cutting-edge methodologies. As a Scientist, you will participate in the design, execution, and optimization of several R&D projects, as well as characterizing outcomes and efficiency. You will collaborate with other scientists and research assistants within Meatable to guarantee that our patented animal cell lines perform at their best and that they can be used in a food-grade process to generate delicious meat. We are looking for a new team member with proven experience in molecular cloning and gene editing, i.e. by CRISPR-Cas9, mammalian cell culture, and pluripotent stem cell biology. You will be an essential part of our multidisciplinary team of researchers, working independently but also as part of a larger team. The ideal candidate is a team player, is self-driven, has a strong work ethic, a critical mind, and excellent communication skills. Main responsibilities: - Design, plan, and perform experiments. - Mammalian tissue culture experiments: cell culture, genome editing using CRISPR or other genetic engineering tools. - Genetic screening by PCR, Southern blotting, Sanger Sequencing. - Cellular phenotype assessment by gene and protein expression analysis. - Critical interpretation and analysis of results. - Verbal and written communication of plans and experimental outcomes. - Maintaining a laboratory notebook as well as writing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). - Literature research. - High capacity for problem solving. - Supervision of research assistants and students.

Laboratory Support Technician

Meatable is growing fast and therefore there is a need for a Laboratory Support technician who can help the R&D team to execute their work effectively. The support technician can make and maintain stock and/or working solutions and buffers for the whole department, supports the daily research operations, and consumable supplies, manages waste streams, and cleans the laboratories and storage rooms. We are looking for a precise person who has a couple years of laboratory experience in making solutions and buffers. You like to create structure but don’t mind to roll up your sleeves to unpack and install a refrigerator or relocate an incubator on a quick notice. Planning goes easy on you and you have no difficulties in contacting (calling, e-mailing, face to face) companies that e.g. supply our labs. In short you are assertive, practical, and eager to learn; a problem solver. Your key responsibilities will include: -Works closely with the research team to maintain a stock for active buffers and solutions and properly disposing the ones that are obsolete. -Supports the research teams with buffer and solution preparations. -Helps with autoclaving of media and waste. -Supports in the cleaning activities in the laboratories and the storage rooms.
